Young people taking part in the RYST expedition on Tall Ship Maybe in August are doing their bit to raise funds for the Trust as a mark of appreciation for the organizations that have sponsored their place on board.
Team member Oliver Pearson, 18, from Falmouth has enrolled in the 11 Tors Challenge on Dartmoor, organized by Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (DSRT) Tavistock. It’s an 11-mile hike up 11 tors in one day – enough to test the resolve of many a keen walker.
Says Oliver: “I’m grateful to have been chosen for the Maybe expedition. Any donations will be very helpful and will mean that other people can get to experience sailing through RYST in the future.”
An apprentice at Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth, Oliver’s place on Maybe is sponsored by Superyacht Charities, which harnesses the energies and generosity of the companies and individuals working in the superyacht industry to generate funding for charitable causes and natural disaster relief in third world countries related to the sailing industry.
