Bank holiday Sunday’s Percuil Regatta was once again a lovely event, with several generations of several families all out sailing.
With the wind forecast to increase by lunchtime it was decided to go ahead straight away and shorten the course to just one round if necessary. The wind increased early and, with wind over tide, it became quite rough in St Mawes Bay, requiring five safety boats out on the course.
After the first round, the Race Officer shortened the course for the dinghy classes, allowing the larger boats, Ajax’s, Rustler 24’s and Shrimpers to continue for a second round.

Onshore, meanwhile, the cream teas and cakes were selling like – well, hot cakes – all in aid of raising funds for RYST’s Schools programme.
