Children in Clay Country schools are learning to sail this summer, thanks to support from Cornwall Community Foundation and TK Foundation Youth Sailing, working towards achieving RYA Stages 1, 2 or 3.
So far, 24 children have gained certificates. Congratulations to:

The TK Foundation is a private independent foundation named for J. Torben Karlshoej, “T.K.”, who grew up on a farm in Denmark and later founded the Teekay Shipping Company, now Teekay Corporation. The TK Foundation’s mission is to fulfill his legacy by enabling disadvantaged youth to succeed and promoting maritime education and safety. Their projects offer young people an up-close and personal relationship with the ocean, provide them with opportunities to challenge themselves in an ocean environment, teach responsible seamanship and stewardship, and help them develop important life skills. In 1998 a group of far-sighted people identified the need to give a voice to the struggling and a source of funding for community self-help to Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. That small acorn grew to become Cornwall Community Foundation in 2003. The team has awarded and actively monitored over £11 million of grants to 5,000 community projects since 2003. In 2020 they awarded 370 grants worth £1.6 million to support communities during the Coronavirus crisis.
