Our offshore sailing voyages are funded through the generosity of mainly local individuals and organisations, each sponsoring a place on board. But at least one place each year is paid for by venturers’ own fund-raising efforts. Here are two current examples.
Luca
A member of Team Helen Mary R 2024, Luca was sponsored by Team Maybe 2023, who took part in the Tall Ships race to Spain. Now he is about to set off on a three-week yomp walking the Cornish Coastal Path so that someone else can benefit as he did. Rose
Rose is a member of Team Helen Mary R 2025, sponsored by Helen Billington in memory of her husband Billy, a trustee of RYST who died this year. Rose’s expedition hasn’t set sail yet, but she is already contributing to next year’s voyage by climbing both Snowden and Ben Nevis.
