Our intrepid team of 11 young people from Cornwall will set sail for the Scillies in August on Tall Ship Maybe in a 10-day adventure building teamwork and other skills at sea.

Meanwhile, they’re busy raising funds for RYST. With places aboard sponsored by local organizations, venturers have been invited to show their appreciation by undertaking fundraising activity for the benefit of others.

Friends Josh Kendle and Josh Lewis, both 17 and from Tregony, have decided to combine their enthusiasm for sailing and cycling by visiting every sailing club in Cornwall in a mammoth 175-mile bike trip involving a climb of 15,000 feet.

Setting off from Saltash, the two Joshes will cycle west to St Austell, north up to Padstow, west again along the north coast to St Ives, down to Penzance and then east to finish at St Mawes. They’ll be visiting all the sailing clubs in Cornwall, which are, in order of their ride:  Saltash – Torpoint – St Germans – Looe – Fowey Gallants – Fowey Royal Regatta – Porthpean – Pentewan – Rock – Padstow – Newquay – St Ives – Penzance – Mounts Bay – Helford River – Royal Cornwall Yacht Club – Flushing – Restronguet – Mylor – St Mawes. They plan to complete this challenge on the weekend of 14th August 2021.

They’re hoping to raise enough to send two young people on a future Tall Ships expedition. We wish them well.
