The Tall SHIPS
Every year Roseland Youth Sailing Trust sends a select number of young people from across Cornwall to have a life changing experience on Tall Ship Maybe.
Voyagers learn how to rig sails, tie knots, navigate at sea and steer the ship. Lots of hard work and plenty of fun, and sometimes even racing the other tall ships to A Coruna, when the Tall Ships Race is taking place.
The voyage is an exciting trip on a historic two-masted gaff ketch. Maybe took part in the first ever International Tall Ships Race in 1956. 65 years later, she’s one of the few original boats still competing in the International Tall Ship Races.
An exciting trip for our voyagers – and for us. 2021 was RYST’s first step towards supporting young people aged 16-plus who’ve taken part in our schools sailing programme, helping them get the experience and skills needed for quality jobs in maritime and related industries.
The project would not be possible without the support of our generous sponsors, who will pay for berths, return travel and insurance, so the trip is completely free for our lucky voyagers.
